Sheena M. Dance, Executive Director

Sheena Dance was employed for nineteen years with East Orange General Hospital; the last position held being that of Case Manager for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services department until 2004. At that time, she became employed as the Program Director for the Violence Prevention Institute; coordinating school-based youth violence prevention programs throughout the State of New Jersey; as well as managing all areas of research development, and community collaborations. Ms. Dance holds both a Baccalaureate and Masters Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University, is a NJ Certified Social Worker, and NJ Department of Education Certified School Social Worker.

Ms. Dance is the current Essex County Committee Chair of the National Association of Social Workers New Jersey Chapter (NASW-NJ), and member of the Finance Committee. Ms. Dance has sat on numerous committees including: Rutgers University Social Work Student Council, East Orange "Safe Schools Task Force", the former Essex County Children's Initiative, NJ State Fire Marshall's Adolescent Fire-Setter's Coalition; and most recently appointed to the Board of the Jehovah-Rapha International Church and Ministries.

Ms. Dance continues to collaborate with community-based organizations that offer recreational activities for youth such as the American Caribbean Boxing Organization, and those who help to empower youth and families suffering from the loss of loved ones due to gang violence; including Survivors of Murdered Children, and Echoes the Grief Center of Orange. In her spare time, Ms. Dance has raised more than $60,000.00 worth of toys, computers, food, clothing, books, and free recreational services distributed to hundreds of children and adults throughout her local community.

As a member of the NY Tri-State Chapter of Swing Phi Swing, SFI, Inc., the organization adopted several families afflicted by the Hurricane Katrina Disaster in New Orleans, collected and donated toys to her local community benefiting more than 800 children during the 2006 holiday season. In addition, Ms. Dance has facilitated the acquisition and delivery of much needed medical supplies to a hospital completely devastated by the failed political and economical infrastructure located in Liberia, Africa.
